Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay endorses Scott Gray for the 116th River District seat.
Will Barclay was elected to the Assembly in 2002, and in 2020 he was unanimously elected as
the Leader of the Assembly Minority Conference. Among his many duties, Will serves on the
Assembly Minority Task Force on Small Business. Will specializes in business law in his private
practice and is a graduate of St. Lawrence University.
“As a small businessman and community leader, Scott Gray knows the issues and concerns of
North Country residents as well as anyone. We are all living with the consequences of one-party
control in Albany – high taxes, high prices, high utility costs, and high crime. Getting New York
back on track starts with getting more common-sense voices in state government, and I know
that’s what Scott Gray will bring to the Assembly. He is the clear choice to represent the people
of the River District, and I look forward to working with him in Albany.”
Scott’s background includes operating his family business for 40 years, serving on the Jefferson
County Board of Legislators for the last 21 years as well as serving the community in a variety of
capacities, including; United Way of NNY, Bugbee Apartments, Henry Keep Apartments, and
Ives Hill Retirement Boards, Jefferson County Industrial Development Board, Carthage Area
Hospital Board, Carthage Savings and Loan Board, WPBS TV and Development Authority of
the New Country Board of Directors.
Barclay joined Sheriff Colleen O’Neill, Senator Patty Ritchie, Senator James Wright (Ret),
Assemblymen Ken Blankenbush and Robert Smullen, Tom Homan along with NYSUT, PEF,
IBEW 910 & 2032, Central Trades AFL-CIO, NRA and NYLCV.
